Returning to recording primarily French-language material for her 1994 album Ya Ya, Mitsou included cover versions of songs popular in Quebec in the '60s and '70s, such as the title track and "Comme j'ai toujours envie d'aimer" (a Marc Hamilton cover). By This point, Mitsou had lived a very successful career as a pop artist, charting very early on and riding on her success over an entire decade. She followed this release with a much needed hiatus.
