Afro-Desia is a studio album by American jazz organist Lonnie Smith, styled Dr. Lonnie Smith, released in 1975. Smith is backed by drummer Ben Riley (Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins), percussionist Jamey Haddad (Esperanza Spalding, Paul Simon), bassists Ralphe Armstrong (Mahavishnu Orchestra) and Ron Carter (Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis), guitarist George Benson (Dexter Gordon, Freddie Hubbard), saxophonist Joe Lovano (John Patitucci, John Scofield), and trumpeter Greg Hopkins (Buddy Rich). Smith is known for his prowess on the Hammond B3 organ, and has played alongside many of the world's jazz and R&B greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Grover Washington, Jr., Lou Donaldson, Jimmy McGriff, and more.
